What you are going to learn

About this course:

The first draft of the Procurement Act specifically stated that the Act would cover NHS contracting. There were long discussions of this point in both Houses of Parliament. In the end specific reference to the NHS was removed. On 19th October 2023 the Department of Health and Social Care laid a set of Regulations before both Houses which would apply to "Health Care Procurement". To be known as the Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023 (PSR). These Regulations became law when they were approved by the House of Lords on 27th November and by the Commons on 29th November. They come into force from 1st January 2024. This course explains this new Regulations and how they are intended to work.
Throughout this course you will:
  • Consider the meanings of "Relevant Healthcare" and "Social Care" based on legislation and CPV codes;
  • Understand the five methods by which the ICBs,  NHS Trusts, etc., will award contracts January 2024 onwards;
  • Understand the criteria and detailed methodology Commissioners will use to assess your tender (offer);
  • Decide how to develop an organisation-wide response to the new requirements:
  • Be able to download relevant documentation, including our e-book covering the legislation, which you can use for decision making.
